Stanford Postdoc Handbook
Introduction
Welcome to Stanford University, where we have a thriving academic community which includes over 1,800 postdoctoral scholars. Stanford prides itself on recruiting skilled and talented scholars from all over the country, and is strongly committed to an affirmative action program for admitting qualified minority applicants for fellowship positions.
What is a "Postdoc?"
A Stanford POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR is a trainee in residence at Stanford University
pursuing advanced studies beyond the doctoral level in preparation for an
independent career. Postdoctoral Scholars are appointed for a limited period
of time and may participate on Stanford research projects and/or may be supported
by external awards or fellowships. In all cases, their appointment at Stanford
is for the purpose of advanced studies and training under the mentorship
of a Stanford faculty member.
This handbook is intended to provide key information scholars will need to get started, survive and thrive at Stanford University. Use the "Search Handbook" field or the "Table of Contents" links at left to find specific topics.
