Compensation

Stanford offers staff competitive and fair pay that reflects market trends for each job category. Each year, the university determines the salary budget for the upcoming fiscal year for non-bargaining unit staff taking into consideration external market conditions, internal salary relationships and the university’s financial resources. Wage rates for bargaining unit staff are determined during contract negotiations.

Base Salary Reviews

Base salary reviews are conducted on an annual basis for all non-bargaining unit staff and can be adjusted based on a number of factors including performance.  The intent is to provide a base salary increase to recognize individual contributions and achievement of organizational goals.  Base salary increases for bargaining unit staff are determined by the applicable collective bargaining unit agreement.

Additional Pay Opportunities

In addition to an annual base salary increase, some parts of the university provide additional pay components – in the form of a bonus or incentive payment – to reward their best performing employees and to recognize staff who make special contributions.
