Women & Sex Differences in Medicine (WSDM)

Education

Led by Co-Directors Marcia Stefanick, PhD and Lynn Westphal, MD, with support from Managing Director Sonoo Thadaney, the Stanford WSDM Center is committed to enhancing education in the area of health research on biological sex differences and women's health.

EDUCATION GOALS

  1. Mainstream women’s health, biology of sex differences that influence health, and gender medicine curriculum throughout the continuum of education at the University.
  2. Organize Workshops (and offer consultations) on sex and gender and women’s health issues in conjunction with WSDM Seed Grants, to educate faculty within School of Medicine Departments (and Divisions), Institutes, and Centers and Programs across the University about WSDM goals.
  3. Create new courses that fill “unmet educational needs” for medical students and undergraduates.
  4. Foster and develop curricula for community-based education programs in our primary mission areas.

The Stanford WSDM Center meets its educational goals via its Scholarly Application, courses, three annual Symposia, and the Fall Seed Grant Workshop:
