2015
HIMSS Stage 7 Awards honor our facilities for operating in a paperless environment and representing best practices in implementing Electronic Health Records (November 4, 2015)
HIMSS Analytics has awarded Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health in Palo Alto, Calif., with a Stage 7 Acute Care Award, and all 167 of their network practices with Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards. This is the only children’s hospital enterprise in Northern California to receive these prestigious awards.
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford is named one of the Bay Area’s Healthiest Employers in 2015 (September 8, 2015)
The San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal partnered with Healthiest Employers LLC, to determine the Bay Area’s healthiest employers. Honored were top institutions committed to making the workplace and wellbeing of their employees a significant priority. Packard Children’s ranked 5th among companies with 2,000+ employees working in the Greater Bay Area counties. The survey queried each participating company about its wellness programs: its culture and leadership, strategic planning, communication and marketing, foundational components, programming and interventions.
Transplant Programs Receive Gold Level Recognition for Organ Donation Outreach (August 11, 2015)
Our Transplant Center was recently awarded with gold level recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration for our organ, eye, and tissue donation outreach efforts in 2014-15. During this period, we worked closely with Donor Network West, our local organ procurement organization, and Donate Life California as part of our strong push to educate and register organ donors within the local community. As the national leader in pediatric organ transplantation, this award reaffirms the positive impact that our transplant center has on not only our patients but also the larger community as well.

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health have been honored as one of HealthCare’s Most Wired™ for 2015. The awards were part of results from the 17th annual HealthCare’s Most Wired™ survey released by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.
CIO Ed Kopetsky honored with Lifetime Achievement Award (June 18, 2015)
Chief Information Officer Ed Kopetsky was recently presented with the 2015 Silicon Valley Business Journal, San Francisco Business Times and PwC CIO of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognized his significant contributions to the field of information technology and for his use of IT to advance health care.

In newly released 2015 data from the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, the transplant center at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health is once again confirmed as the national leader in pediatric organ transplantation.
Chief Strategy Officer, Kim Roberts honored with 2015 Tribute to Women Award (February 12, 2015)
Kim Roberts is one of thirty-six women selected to receive a YWCA 2015 Tribute to Women Award, an honor focused on valuing executive women and the unique perspective they bring to their company. Roberts, who also serves as Chief Administrative Officer for Physician Practices, Stanford Children’s Health, and Chief Executive Officer Packard Children’s Health Alliance (PCHA), was nominated for the award by Christopher G. Dawes, president and CEO of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health.
Seth Ammerman, MD, honored with Jefferson Award for Public Service Silver Medal (January 15, 2015)
Seth Ammerman, MD was one of five out of fifty-five 2014 local Jefferson Awards recipients, who were honored on January 15 in San Francisco, with a Jefferson Award for Public Service Silver Medal. Dr. Ammerman, Medical Director of Mobile Adolescent Health Services, founded the Teen Van program in 1996; the roving program provides free healthcare to underserved youth from San Francisco to San Jose. The annual Jefferson Awards silver medal ceremony honors five standouts in local community service who will go on to be considered among other regional silver medal recipients nationwide for a national Jefferson award.

Nurse receives national award from leading publication (September 24, 2014)
Linda Ritter, RN, a longtime nurse in our Bass Childhood Cancer Center, has been honored by Nurse.com as a national winner of the 2014 Giving Excellence Meaning (GEM) Award.

The 2014-15 U.S. News & World Report survey of the Best Children’s Hospitals in America has awarded Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford with the highest specialty rankings of any children's hospital in Northern California. This is an honor the hospital has held for the last decade.
Community health leader receives prestigious award for public service (May 12, 2014)
Seth Ammerman, MD, medical director of Mobile Adolescent Health Services, has received a Bay Area Jefferson Award, which honors public service achievements in local communities.

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford awarded coveted 2013 Leapfrog Top Children’s Hospital Distinction (December 3, 2013)
The Leapfrog Group has named Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford to its annual list of Top Hospitals. Packard Children’s Hospital was selected as a Top Children’s Hospital out of a record number of 1,324 hospitals participating in The Leapfrog Group’s annual survey. The selection is based on measurements of a hospital’s performance on patient safety and quality.
Pediatric Rheumatology Leader from Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Receives National Award of Distinction (November 26, 2013)
The American College of Rheumatology has honored Christy Sandborg, MD, pediatric rheumatologist at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, with a Distinguished Service Award, one of the College’s Awards of Distinction.
Professor who links nutrition to birth defects honored by the March of Dimes (November 4, 2013)
Researcher Gary M. Shaw, PhD, who showed that what a woman consumes during pregnancy may increase her baby’s risk of developing a birth defect, has received the March of Dimes Agnes Higgins Award for outstanding achievements in the field of maternal-fetal nutrition.
Hospital earns top recognition from leading accreditor of Health Care Organizations (October 30, 2013)
The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America, has recognized Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. The hospital earned the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance.
Quality-improvement expert named first-ever recipient of new national award (June 24, 2013)
Pediatrician Paul Sharek, MD, MPH, whose research focuses on improving the quality of care delivered in children’s hospitals, has been named the inaugural Paul V. Miles Fellow in Quality Improvement by the American Board of Pediatrics. This honor was bestowed upon Sharek because of his dedication to quality improvement and demonstrated accomplishments leading to better healthcare for children.

In the U.S. News & World Report publication of America's Best Children’s Hospitals 2012-13, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has received the highest rankings of any children’s hospital in Northern California.
Hospital honored with national award for connecting food, climate and health (April 24, 2013)
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has been honored with the “Food, Climate, Health Connection Award” from the Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Healthy Food in Health Care (HFHC) program. The award is one of four Sustainable Food Awards given in 2013 to recognize significant achievement as well as leadership in health care food service.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal has named Chandra Ramamoorthy, MD, as a 2013 Woman of Influence.
Kidney Transplant Program ranked #1 in the U.S. (April 1, 2013)
In the most recent national report, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford successfully performed 31 kidney transplants in kids under age 18, more than any other pediatric transplant program in the nation. That’s according to newly released data from the United Network for Organ Sharing, the private, non-profit organization that manages the nation’s organ transplant system.
