James J. Y. Liu Prize for Distinguished Undergraduate Work in Asian Languages and Culture

One prize is offered by the Asian Languages Department to an outstanding undergraduate who has written an outstanding essay for an EALC class on the literature or culture of China, Japan, and/or Korean in English and recommended by a teacher. The length of the essay is of secondary concern, but it should represent a substantial effort vis-à-vis the topic.

Kung-Yi Kao Prize for Outstanding Progress in the Study of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean Language

One prize is offered by the Asian Languages Department to an outstanding undergraduate in a third or fourth year language course in the department. A major criterion in judging candidates for this prize will be overall progress in the language in question.
