Green Workplace

About

When we designed our headquarters in Palo Alto, we focused on incorporating the concept of sustainability into every facet. We want to practice what we preach, and that’s why environmental conservation is more than one of our program areas: it’s the guiding principle in the structure, function and design of our LEED® Platinum workplace.

We created our workplace in collaboration with Hawley Peterson Snyder Architects and Blach Construction Company, and together we decided that the building should:

  • Use reclaimed and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood throughout the building and in the furniture
  • Feature an innovative light-reflecting and sound-absorbing system of ceiling “leaves” that define work areas
  • Showcase an undulating ceiling of salvaged timbers that connects the separate wings of the building-and unifies staff members’ workspaces

We’re honored that our green workplace has been recognized with the 2010 AIA Santa Clara Valley Merit Award and the 2009 San Jose Business Journal Green Project of the Year – Private. This work and the recognition help us to tell the important story of sustainability-and show how we live that principle.
