What to Expect

The 2015 Staff Survey is an important mechanism to gather feedback and measure engagement in a consistent way.

Engagement is often defined as one's emotional commitment to an organization. Highly engaged employees are typically aligned with the organization's goals and are working to help advance the organization.

The 2015 Staff Survey will examine key themes related to engagement, including:

  • Institutional alignment
  • Openness
  • Performance management
  • Career development

Who May Participate in the Survey

Active benefits-eligible staff* will be invited to participate in the 2015 Staff Survey via email. The survey is administered by CEB's Workforce Surveys & Analytics, an independent research organization. Eligible staff will receive the email invitation on Monday, Oct. 12 from StanfordStaffSurvey@cebglobal.com.

Each school and unit is thoughtfully partnering with University Human Resources to cultivate high levels of staff participation. To ensure a broad range of staff participate and have access to the survey, a paper and Spanish-language version will also be available as necessary.

*Eligible staff groups include: exempt, non-exempt, bargaining unit, non-academic, coaches, academic librarians and academic research staff

How Survey Results Will Be Used

The 2015 Staff Survey will be used to:

  • Measure overall staff engagement
  • Surface workforce priorities and inform strategic planning
  • Help identify specific actions to strengthen the employee experience in the coming years
  • Help identify employment-related programs, services and plans needed for Stanford's valued workforce

Decisions about action steps may be implemented institution-wide or at the school, unit or even department or group level, based on themes the results show.
