Networking is a critical skill for career success, but finding the time and confidence to make it happen is not always easy.  Join your colleagues in a relaxed and comfortable workshop series designed to help you become a skilled networker and prepare for your next role.

Workshop Series Descriptions

Series 1: Preparing for Your Next Role

Join a small group of your Stanford colleagues as we explore the essential career development skill of networking and make progress on several specific career goals. During this five-session workshop series, you will learn about and practice networking in a safe environment while developing an understanding of best practices when preparing to apply for your next Stanford career opportunity.

This is an opportunity to utilize the motivating power of group accountability to facilitate tangible progress toward your individual career goals and planning. This workshop series will focus on completing an updated resume, developing compelling cover letters, branding and preparing for an in-person interview.

Workshops are held in Poplar Modular,  from 12 p.m.–1 p.m. You are encouraged to bring your lunch!

Series 2: Maximizing Your Current Role

We will focus on making progress on several specific career goals over the course of five 55-minute lunch hour meetings spaced out over three months, while developing and fine tuning career networking skills.

This is an opportunity to utilize the motivating power of group accountability to facilitate tangible progress toward individual career goals and planning. During this 5-session workshop series, you will learn about and practice networking in a safe environment while exploring tools and techniques to maximize your current role and plan for future development.

Workshops are held in Poplar Modular,  from 12 p.m.–1 p.m. You are encouraged to bring your lunch!

Attendance & Pre-Work Expectations

To the best of your ability, you will be expected to attend all five class meetings. There is also an expectation to complete a modest amount of pre-work (in the form of networking practice with other participants, reviewing of career development resources, resume, cover letter and branding drafts) prior to the first workshop date and in the time between class meetings.
