STAP provides reimbursement for training activities directly related to your job or career development efforts.

Eligibility 

Regular or fixed-term employees working 50 percent time or greater, eligible beginning the first day of employment, including:

✓ Staff

✓ Bargaining unit employees

✓ Academic teaching staff 

Faculty, temporary employees and retirees are not eligible.

Regular or fixed-term employees working 50 percent time or greater, with one year of eligible service, including:

✓ Staff

✓ Bargaining unit employees

✓ Academic teaching staff

Faculty, temporary employees and retirees are not eligible.

Regular or fixed-term employees working 50 percent time or greater, with five years of eligible service, including:

✓ Staff

✓ Bargaining unit employees

✓ Academic teaching staff

✓ Faculty, Hoover Senior Fellows and senior staff are eligible for TGP when your appointment begins if you are in a university appointment of six months or longer.

✓ Retirees. The amount of TGP coverage will be determined when you retire.

Temporary employees are not eligible.

What is Paid or Reimbursed

✓ Tuition and registration fees

✓ Required course textbooks, CD's or tapes

✓ Stanford Health Improvement Program classes (designated classes only) 

✓ Continuing Studies courses

✓ Information Technology courses

✓ Seminars and workshops associated with professional conferences may also be eligible

✓ Tuition and covered fees

✓ Required books, supplies and equipment 

 

✓  Non-Taxable payments (child is claimed as dependent on tax return) are made directly to the eligible institution upon receipt of invoice from the institution.

✓ Taxable Payments (child is not claimed as dependent on tax return) will be reimbursed upon receipt of proof of payment from the employee / student.

Maximum Amount Payable 

$800 for regular staff

$700 for employees who are covered by the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement

$5,250 each fiscal year (September 1 to August 31)

Reimbursements are pro-rated for eligible staff working less than full time

TGP pays for tuition toward up to four years of course work required for an undergraduate degree for a maximum of 12 quarters or eight semesters of eligible attendance.

  • An application must be submitted each year the child attends an eligible institution.
  • SLAC employees must submit applications to the SLAC Benefits Office.
