The Department of French & Italian offers various graduate degrees.
There are three distinct Ph.D. degrees that can be pursued in the department:
Ph.D. students may combine their program with a minor in a related field, including Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Modern Thought and Literature, Art History, History, Music, Philosophy, and Spanish. Students in other departments may choose a minor in French Literature or Italian Literature, and Ph.D. candidates in French may minor in Italian, or vice versa.
The department offers an M.A. in French.
Co-Terminal Degrees are available to current Stanford undergrad students only. These MA degrees are available in French or Italian.
