Rebecca Mehra is a senior majoring in International Relations, with specializations in International Security and International History and Culture. She is also pursuing IR Honors and is currently writing a thesis on India-Pakistan water relations. Although she grew up in Los Angeles, her family is very internationally-inclined, having worked in international governing bodies and sects of the United Nations. She hopes to continue on the tradition. Two summers ago she interned at the UN in Geneva, and worked on various projects and wrote speeches for the Director General. This past summer Rebecca worked for Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, the former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, on his newly founded US-Asia Security Initiative, creating an elite speakers series and a new highly immersive class. Rebecca is also an All-American member of the varsity track and field and cross country teams at Stanford, and strikes the balance everyday of being a student athlete. She would love to talk with other athletes on how to make their major, classes, and research work with athletics. She speaks Spanish, Hindi, and is working on learning French, so any of those languages are fair game to speak with her!
Rebecca's Autumn Quarter 2015 Office Hours: Peer Advising Office hours will be by appointment only for weeks 9 and 10. If you have any questions regarding declaring your major, classes to take for winter, etc., just email irpeeradvice@stanford.edu with the times you're available to meet.
Yegina Whang is a junior majoring in International Relations, with a primary specialization in East & South Asia and a secondary specialization in International Security. She is also pursuing a minor in Creative Writing. She is interested in U.S. relations with East Asia and the growing security concerns that threaten to destabilize the region. This past summer, she lived in Seoul for three months to interview Korean comfort women. Through the help of the Storytelling Project and the Braden Grant, she will be turning this raw footage into an audio documentary. On campus, Yegina is involved in the Society for International Affairs at Stanford, the Model United Nations team, the Stanford Journal for East Asia Affairs, and is VP of Campus Affairs for Alpha Phi. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts and cycling.
