Jane Stanford’s grand and visionary plan in the early 1900s to expand the footprint of the university’s library was based on her determination that the university bearing her son’s name not only serve the intellectual pursuits of its current faculty and students but also that it prepare itself to attract and serve a larger future community with more diverse academic interests.
Anticipating the needs of tomorrow’s scholars is at the core of how Stanford Libraries collects and develops digital research tools and services. Beyond100 is a theme that celebrates 100 years of looking forward and the Libraries’ position as a launchpad to spark curiosity, elevate knowledge and transform scholarship.
As we contemplate Green Library’s first centennial, we are especially grateful to the entire Stanford community that has contributed in so many ways over the years to the success of Stanford Libraries. A series of Beyond100 programs and exhibitions will occur, culminating with a community-wide event on Monday, 15 July 2019 at noon – please mark your calendars!
