Bay Area Photovoltaic Consortium (BAPVC)

BAPVC is a consortium led by Stanford University and University of California-Berkeley and is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy with additional support from industry and universities.

DOE is providing $25 million over five years (2011–2016) as part of the SunShot Photovoltaic Manufacturing Initiative to provide a source of research funding for all universities in the United States. 

Bio-X

The Mission of Bio-X is to catalyze discovery by crossing the boundaries between disciplines, to bring interdisciplinary solutions and to create new knowledge of biological systems to improve human health.

Center for Magnetic Nanotechnology (CMN)

Magnetic Biosensors & Biochips

The center's mission is to stimulate research at Stanford in magnetic nanotechnology, magnetic sensing, spintronics, information storage, energy conversion and other related emerging technologies; to facilitate collaboration between Stanford scientists and their industrial colleagues; to train well-rounded and highly skilled graduate students; and to develop curricular offerings in the relevant subjects.

Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials

The Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials (GLAM) is an independent laboratory that supports and fosters interdisciplinary education and research on advanced materials in science and engineering. GLAM’s educational goals include undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students.

Our team creates, models and prototypes nanoscale structures to understand the physics of electrical energy conversion and storage.

We are exploring the relation between size, composition and the kinetics of charge transfer. We are also interested in learning from nature, in particular by studying the electron transport chain in plant cells.
