Aviation security continues to be a global priority, and developing systems that can identify ever changing threats is a universal goal. EXD is working with the Transportation Security Administration to develop the next generation of threat detection systems for screening passengers and carry-on luggage before they reach the plane.
The Next Generation Passenger Checkpoint Program identifies and supports efforts to develop technologies that will screen for a wider range of threats, while improving traveler experience. Ongoing work includes looking at ways of combining a variety of technologies that would allow passengers to have their carry-on baggage screened without having to remove laptops or liquids. Passengers would simply walk through the checkpoint screening systems without removing shoes, belts or other items of clothing.
