Tom Dougherty

Tom Dougherty came to Stanford after doing his graduate work at MIT. His dissertation,“Help! Not Just Anybody. Essays on Altruism and Conflicts of Interest,” looked at what beneficence requires of us as individuals. During his time at Stanford, his primary research interests were in ethics. As a postdoctoral fellow, Dougherty taught “Justice” and “Contemporary Moral Problems,” His research focuses on consent, as well as ethical issues concerning tense and foundational issues in a theory of rights.
