Current Status of Water Quality

WATER QUALITY NOTICE:
WATER QUALITY CHANGES December 28, 2015 through February 1, 2016
WATER WILL CONTINUE TO MEET ALL REGULATORY STANDARDS

We are notifying you in advance of expected changes in drinking water quality from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) between December 28th, 2015 and February 1st, 2016.  These changes in water quality are due to seasonal supply management and a shutdown of Hetch Hetchy supply.  On December 28th, the Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant (SVWTP) will begin ramping up, and the Hetch Hetchy supply will be offline by January 4th, 2016.  The Hetch Hetchy supply is anticipated to return on February 1st, 2016.  The table below compares estimated water quality parameters on the listed dates in the East Bay.  The slight changes noted below will likely affect Stanford approximately 24 hours after the dates noted below (average travel time from East Bay facilities to Stanford).

WHAT DOES THE WATER QUALITY CHANGE MEAN FOR EQUIPMENT AND PROCESSES IN LABORATORIES?
Equipment and processes in labs or academic buildings may be affected by fluctuations in hardness, alkalinity, and  conductivity between December 28th and February 1st.
