Infectious Diseases In the Department of Pediatrics

Library Facilities

There are at least four libraries in close proximity to the Pediatric Infectious Disease residents’ offices. The first is the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Library, which is located in the residents’ office and contains current pertinent Infectious Diseases, Immunology and General Pediatric journals and textbooks. The second is the Department of Pediatrics library which is located down the hall from the Division and subspecialty residents’ offices. This library contains current pertinent General Pediatric and General Medical journals and textbooks. The third library is the Lane Medical Library operated by the School of Medicine. This library is a five minute walk from the Division offices. The library has about 3,000 journal titles and 350,000 volumes, and the services include reference consultation, biomedical knowledge bases and bibliographic databases. Each faculty and resident member of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases also has access to computerized Medline searches on a 24 hour basis in the residents’ office, the Division office, the Lane Medical Library, and on each ward at the Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. There is also a fourth library available: the small pediatric library on the Ground Floor of the Packard Children’s Hospital. This library houses a selective assortment of General Pediatric and General Medical journals and textbooks, and also has computer terminals with printers and copy machines available on a 24 hour basis for conducting literature searches.
