Registering For Trip Lotteries
Applicants can rank up to 3 trips (with 1 being the top choice, and so on). After reading the trip descriptions available online, applicants should click on the links above and complete the application process. The first question is intended to help us learn about your interest in AB@S, and the second question is used to help program leaders learn more about your interest in their specific program topic.
AB@S strives to be inclusive of all members of the Stanford student community. Every year, however, AB@S receives more applications than we can accept since each program can only accommodate twelve participants. Therefore, program participation is finalized using a lottery system. All applicants will have a chance to be assigned to their top-ranked program, but priority in the lottery is given to applicants that attend the Fall Quarter information session on October 28th, at 8:15 PM. The information Session will be held at Stern Dining (Munger/Casa Zapata side) where they will get a chance to meet AB@S program leaders and hear more about each specific program.
Finally, essays are not used to evaluate applicants, but they are requisite in order to be eligible to enter the lottery. Application essays are read by program leaders to learn more about participants only after they have been selected. This information is used by the program leaders to begin to get to know the cohort of students with whom they will be working.
Waitlist:
In the event that your ranked programs are filled before you are assigned, you will be placed automatically on the waitlist. Waitlisted applicants will be contacted via email if/when a position becomes available.
