Farouk Dey

Farouk Dey, PhD, MBA

Dean of Career Education &
Associate Vice Provost of Student Affairs

Dr. Farouk Dey is the Dean of Career Education and Associate Vice Provost at Stanford University. He is leading the expansion of career education at Stanford and developing Vision 2020, a reinvented model of career and professional development for college students and alumni. Dr. Dey has held leadership roles at Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Florida, the National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE), and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). His credentials include a PhD in Higher Education Administration, EdS in Higher Education Administration, MBA, MEd in Counseling Psychology, and BBA in Finance. Author of several articles and book chapters, Dr. Dey has served as a consultant and keynote speaker at many conferences in the US and around the world.

 

Administration

Betsy Cuisinot
Director of Administration

Betsy has been with Stanford for 30+ years. She manages administrative services, which encompass the management of the budget, human resources, facilities, health & safety, and day-to-day operations of BEAM. She is also is part of BEAM's leadership team, which provides direction on issues, such as budget, policies and procedures, and other critical decisions. Betsy holds a BA in child development from California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo.

 

 

 

 

 

Jing Jing Yang
Manager of Budget and Payroll

Jing Jing has been with the organization for 20+ years.  Her responsibilities include overseeing the Center's accounting and assisting with the budget.  She also greatly enjoys managing the student assistants and helping students find jobs on campus. A former teacher with an MA degree in Linguistics, she is a native speaker of Mandarin, proficient in Taiwanese and has a basic knowledge of German. Jing Jing enjoys spending time with her husband and two children as well as travelling, photography, and embroidery.

 

 

 

 

Dietra Woods
Administrative Associate

Dietra has been with the staff for 12 years. In this role, she is the first point of contact for visitors at BEAM. Dietra has 18 years of administrative experience, and in 2007, graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BA degree in Business Management. She loves spending time with her husband and five children. In her spare time, what little there is of it, she enjoys shopping, cooking, watching sports, and baking.

 

 

 

 

Branding and Digital Communities

Sheetal Patel, PhD
Director of Branding and Digital Communities

Dr. Sheetal Patel is a ten-year veteran of creating engaging brands, marketing communication strategies, and stories that build relationships. She is fascinated with the power stories have to effectively change a person's life for the better. Throughout her career, Sheetal has served in marketing communication roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Texas at Arlington, and Sulekha LLC. She also served as faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has a PhD in Strategic Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and a Master’s degree in Advertising and two Bachelor’s degrees in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin. Sheetal’s research interests focus on public health communication campaign development and brand management in higher education.  She is dedicated to developing stories that serve her communities in her spare time as well, participating in such activities as the classical dance performance art of Kuchipudi, photography, and blogging on women and balance.

Vicky Chung
Manager of Branding and Digital Communities

Vicky Chung is the Manager of Branding and Digital Communities. By using market research and strategy, Vicky is shaping the new visual brand identity for BEAM's digital and print communication channels. Prior to joining BEAM, she did freelance web and graphic design and marketing for various companies in the Bay Area. Vicky is also committed to youth empowerment and spent four years of her career developing dropout prevention programs for Communities In Schools of Seattle and coordinating fundraising campaigns for Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island. She has a BA in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and a diploma in Digital Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. On weeknights and weekends, you can find Vicky on the water training and competing around the bay with her paddling teammates from San Francisco Outrigger Canoe Club.

 

 

Iyad Uakoub
Manager of Digital User Experience

Iyad’s mission is to bring an amazing digital experience to Stanford students throughout their journey to meaningful work. Iyad has 13+ years of international experience with the UN, private, public and non-profit sectors. Before Stanford, he led the Operations & Communications team at Purdue University’s Center for Career Opportunities. He co-founded and consulted career and entrepreneurship centers and hosted live TV show on employability subjects. Iyad is a Mentor through the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Top 10 Under 40 - Lafayette Commerce, Fulbright Scholar, and State Department's International Visitor Alumni. He served on the board of SHRM-Lafayette, International Center, President of Purdue Fulbright Association, Purdue Faculty Fellow. He has a MS in HR & Organization Behavior from Purdue and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems from Damascus University. He is a multilingual trainer/interpreter, Certified HR Professional (PHR, SHRM-CP) and Certified Project Manager. He spends his time volunteering, reading or doing unplanned events with his wife & daughter.
