Counselor Requirements
- Hold a master’s degree or higher in counseling or a closely related field, plus complete two academic terms of supervised field experience in a career counseling setting during their master’s program
- Have five years or more post-master’s experience in career counseling and development
- Be qualified to administer career-counseling assessments such as Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Campbell Interest and Skills Survey or Strong Interest Inventory
- Meet Stanford University vendor requirements and enter into a signed agreement with the university
- Be willing to see clients for counseling sessions in their private practice office
- Be available to see client within one week of initial contact or inform the client that there may be a wait and suggest another CCN counselor
- Abide by professional standards including the National Career Development Association Ethical Standards for Career Counselors
- May be a licensed psychologist or possess one or more of the following credentials:
- Nationally Certified Career Counselor
- Nationally Certified Counselor
- State Licensed Professional Counselor
- Registered Professional Career Counselor
- Master Career Counselor
- Master Career Development Professional
