Record Retention
While we live in the Information Age, not all information created or received by Stanford rises to the level of being an official business record. Those that do provide evidence of business transactions, decisions and satisfaction of legal obligations made must be retained based on various requirements. Many of these requirements are dependent on a particular law, regulation or policy which apply to the type of record you are retaining. It is important that everyone understand what the obligation is in keeping important documents and more importantly when and what can destroyed. We hope the list below will be a guide for you.
