Shared Analytical Facilities

Our researchers have access to a wide variety of laboratories and equipment, either within our department or in associated departments. The links below will take you to the labs where EES students and faculty are working to solve real-world problems.

CEES: High Productivity Technical Computing Facility

CEES is a partnership between the School of Earth Sciences, the Computer Systems Laboratory and private industry.

Environmental Measurements I

The EM-1: Gas-Solution Analytical Center provides quantitative analysis and technical expertise to members of the Stanford community needing to conduct soil, gas, and water measurements.

Global Ecology Lab

The Field Lab focuses on basic ecological research from the ecosystem scale to the global scale. Emphases include climate-change impacts, ecosystem responses to multi-factor global changes, the terrestrial carbon cycle, biosphere/atmosphere interactions, and biogeochemical consequences of changes in species composition. We use experiments, models, and satellite data for a synthetic perspective.

Spatial Analysis Center

The Spatial Analysis Center is a shared facility of the School of Earth Sciences that supports research on environmental changes based on remote sensing and geographic information systems. It provides state-of-the-art equipment and expertise for Stanford researchers who conduct geospatial analyses. Ongoing research projects at SAC combine remote sensing data from optical sensors at high to coarse spatial resolutions with data from a variety of other datasources.

Stable Isotope Biogeochemistry Lab

The Stable Isotope Biogeochemistry Laboratory (SIBL) at Stanford University's School of Earth Sciences provides analytical facilities and technical expertise to members of the Stanford community who need to determine stable isotope ratios of a variety of organic and inorganic materials from both terrestrial and marine environments.
