Leadership Development and Practice

School leaders play a vital role in developing and sustaining high-performing schools and districts. Most stakeholders in education acknowledge that strong leadership matters, yet how to best develop practices and systems that foster visionary and skilled leaders on a wide scale remains open to debate. SCOPE’s work with high level district administrative staff, principals, and teachers aims to identify how successful, ongoing reform initiatives can be created and maintained through effective leadership systems. Examples of work addressed in this topic area include distributive leadership models, cases studies of successful principal preparation programs, and strategies for designing and building school systems that support 21st century learning skills.
