Education: Today, less than 10%of all published materials are accessible to people with visual or print impairments. #GoogleImpactChallenge #Disabilities grantee +DAISY Consortium is creating standards to ensure every book is accessible.

Other grantees like +Benetech and +The Arc of the United States are developing innovative assistive technology to make education more accessible for people with disabilities. Read more about them at: g.co/disabilities

Good video, but how exactly do you help deaf and hard of hearing people? There is an amazing local Weingarten Children's Center in Redwood City which help deaf and hard of hearing kids to listen, to speak, to think, to fully integrate into the "hearing" life and successfully mainstream in regular schools.
Why not unite your effort with this center to provide a real help to a local community (actually to the whole Bay Area) and promote such thing as cochlear implants, hearing aids, etc to the global community?

Independence: Almost half of people who are visually impaired would like to leave their home more often if they were able. #GoogleImpactChallenge #Disabilities grantee +Perkins School for the Blind is creating high-precision navigation for the blind via crowdsourced information.

Other grantees like Wayfindr, +Wheelmap.org and TOM are developing innovative assistive technology to increase independence for people with disabilities. Read more about them at: g.co/disabilities
