Parking Programs

Daily Fee Parking

You need to pay a daily fee to park at BART stations. The daily parking fees varies by station and are posted at each station. Daily fee parkers may park in the designated "Fee" area of a station, where fees are required Monday through Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you arrive after 3pm and leave before 4am, parking is free. BART customers using the ADA accessible parking spaces are also required to pay the established parking fees at times when those fees are in effect. To park in the "Permit" area of a parking lot, you need to have purchased in advance a Single Day, Monthly, or Airport/Long-Term permit. Your receipt from your daily fee parking payment does not qualify as a permit. Any empty spot in the Permit area becomes available to the general public after 10am on a first come/first served basis, although you still must pay the daily fee for the station. You pay for the daily parking fee inside the faregates of the station, before boarding BART.  You must be a roundtrip BART rider in order to park at a BART parking facility.

There are 3 ways to pay for parking.

1. EZ Rider Parking Linked to Your Clipper Card

Using a Clipper card makes you eligible for EZ Rider Parking on days you ride BART.  Just set up an EZ Rider Parking account with a credit/debit card and your Clipper card serial number at the BART parking website called "EZ Rider" at https://ezrider.bart.gov/ezrider/. Once you register, you will receive a hang tag, which you display in your car. To pay for parking, simply tag your Clipper card at a Parking Validation Machine after entering the fare gates. This deducts the daily fee charge from your EZ Rider Parking account only on the days that you park and tag the validation machine.

 2. Cash Payment

A. Proceed through the fare gates and go to addfare/parking validation machine.
B. Enter your stall number.
C. Insert your cash.
D. Take your receipt from the bottom tray of the parking validation machine.

 3. BART Blue Ticket

This is for use only if you use a blue ticket to enter the faregates. A BART Blue ticket is the paper/plastic ticket that you receive when you purchase your fare ticket at the station.

A. Proceed through the fare gates and go to addfare/parking validation machine.
B. Insert your blue BART ticket. The total value required on that ticket prior to entering must be at least the minimum ride's fare from that location plus the daily parking fee in effect.
C. Enter your stall number.
D. Take your receipt from the bottom tray of the parking validation machine.

About BART's Reserved Permit Parking Program

BART offers limited reserved parking options at most of its BART stations that have parking facilities.  Please visit www.Select-a-Spot.com for more details.  This website is operated by BART's parking permit vendor, ImPark.

Monthly Reserved Permit Parking

Monthly Reserved Permit Parking is available at most BART stations that offer parking. Permits are station-specific and cost between $30 and $115.50 per month (subject to change). This permit allows riders the ability to park within a designated reserved "Permit" parking area close to the station Monday through Friday until 10 a.m.  After 10am, any unoccupied spaces become "Fee" spaces and are open to the public on a first come/first served basis.

Buy your Monthly Reserved Permit online now at Select-a-Spot, which offers an easy, convenient and secure way to purchase permits with a credit card. Permits will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

All patrons are required to display a valid parking permit through the front windshield of the vehicle with the permit facing outward and clearly displaying the permit number. Failure to display a valid permit may result in a citation.

Single Day Reserved Permit Parking

BART offers Single Day Reserved Permit Parking at many stations. This permit allows riders to purchase a reserved permit for single days and park in the "Permit" Reserved area. Your reservation is for arrival before 10 am.

You will be required to printout a single day permit for each day of your reservation and display the permit through the front windshield of the vehicle with the permit facing outward and clearly displaying the permit number. Failure to display a valid permit may result in a citation. The cost of single day reserved parking varies by station and you can make a reservation as late as just before you need to use it. Buy your Single Day Reserved Permit online now at Select-a-Spot.

Airport/Long Term Permit Parking

(APLT) Airport / Long Term – (APLT) Airport / Long Term Program permits can be purchased for periods of up to 30 days. These permits allow you to park in the station's "Permit" reserved area up until 10 am Monday through Friday. After 10:00 am this "Permit" reserved area is open to the general public and any remaining spaces may fill up fast.  So if you have an Airport/Long Term parking reservation, it is important to arrive at a station either before 10am or at a time when parking spaces are available (generally weekends and evenings.)

Customers who purchase a long term parking permit may park in the station's permit/reserved or other areas that are non-restricted. This is the only permit that allows parking in excess of 24 consecutive hours and is subject to parking charges for weekends and holiday periods depending upon the start date and end date of the reservation and is as further explained below.

You will be required to printout your (APLT) Airport / Long Term permit for your reservation and display the permit through the front windshield of the vehicle with the permit facing outward and clearly displaying the permit number. Failure to display a valid permit may result in a citation.  For security purposes, these permits will only display the date of the first day of the permit reservation and enforcement officers will verify the permit duration electronically. Buy your (APLT) Airport/Long Term Reserved Permit online now at Select-a-Spot.

(APLT) Airport / Long Term Weekend and BART designated Holiday Exception:

(APLT) Airport / Long Term reservations beginning and ending on any weekday and spanning a BART designated Holiday, Saturday or Sunday are subject to (APLT) / Long Term parking charges throughout the on-line reservation including the BART designated Holiday, Saturday or Sunday covered throughout the reservation period. (APLT) Airport / Long Term reservations beginning or ending on a BART designated Holiday, a Saturday or Sunday are not charged for parking on that BART designated Holiday, Saturday or Sunday.  (APLT) Airport / Long Term permits are not available for purchase at any of the BART stations and can only be purchased online prior to arriving at the station.

24-hour weekday time limit

There is a 24-hour weekday time limit on parking in all BART lots (See Airport/Long Term Parking for an exception to this rule). Vehicles left in BART parking facilities for more than 24 hours will be subject to fine.

Extended Weekend Parking

At all BART parking facilities, the 24 hour rule for leaving your vehicle is waived during and throughout weekends and BART designated holidays, excluding those fees that are detailed within the APLT Airport / Long Term parking reservation policy. This means you may leave your vehicle at a BART parking facility during and throughout the weekends and the BART designated holidays continuously and payment of parking fees is not required for these days. Payment is required for any normal operating days either following or preceding the BART designated Holiday, Saturday or Sunday.

Oversized Vehicle Restrictions

Vehicles or combinations of vehicles that exceed 6.5 feet in width, or 19 feet in length or 3 tons in weight may not be driven through, left standing or parked in any BART parking facility. Vehicles found in violation of the size restrictions may be cited or towed.

Parking Holidays

“Excluding” APLT Airport / Long Term Parking Permit reservations, parking permit & fee requirements are not enforced in station parking facilities on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day

 Parking Fee Increases

Most parking facilities will see an increase in daily parking fees in January 2015, per BART policy to adjust rates every 6 months by $0.50 if a facility is over 95% occupied, up to a $3 daily fee maximum.  All daily fee parking facilities were full during the last evaluation period, except for Millbrae (just under 95% full) and South Hayward (about 95% full).  Please consult each station page for estimated fill times.  BART issued a passenger bulletin with more details about individual charges at each station and a program overview, which can be found at the following link:  http://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2014/news20141229

WageWorks / Commuter Checks or TranBen
These various agencies offer a means in which you can pay for your parking on a pre-tax basis and each has a slightly different program than the other. In some cases they produce payment on your behalf to the BART parking vendor and in doing so, provide them with the appropriate information for your account to be properly credited. In each of these instances, it is the BART patron who is responsible for ensuring that the correct and proper information is provided to the BART parking vendor to ensure proper credit to your account. The information that should appear on the check making payment on your behalf should include.

Checks must clearly document right on them (If not submitted as a bulk payment) and not as an attachment -  the patron (Account Name), parking permit number, Station and license number to ensure proper credit to the account for which they are being submitted. They must also be made payable to Impark.
