Admission Volunteers (OVAL)

Eligibility Requirements

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Office of Undergraduate Admission. OVAL eligibility requirements are as follows:

OVAL members must be alumni (undergraduate or graduate) or parents of Stanford undergraduates with understanding of or willingness to learn about the Stanford undergraduate experience.

You are NOT eligible to participate in OVAL if you:

• are the parent, guardian or sibling of a high school senior, whether or not they plan to apply to Stanford

• work as a college admission professional (including high school guidance counselors and independent consultants)

• interview for any other undergraduate institution; or

• otherwise engage in volunteer or professional admission related activities.

These requirements are designed to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest. We strive to create a comfortable environment for both applicants and volunteers, as well as to safeguard the best interests of the University and its candidates for admission, by removing any suggestion of improper influence.
