IDA support to Afghanistan has helped provide 11.7 million people with access to improved water sources, double immunization rates among young children, and upgrade 11,000 km of rural roads.
Following the earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010, IDA helped finance more than 430,000 tuition waivers, allowing disadvantaged children to attend school free of charge.
Nearly 3 million urban residents are benefiting from improved infrastructure services such as roads, drainage, new bridges, street lights, solid waste services and markets.
