Truck Routes
Stanford University requires its vendors to utilize designated Truck Routes when conducting business on the Stanford campus. Contractors are provided with written notification regarding the appropriate routes to use to and from construction sites, including weight and speed limits for local roads used to access construction sites. Stanford is particularly concerned about noise and volume. Moreover, the safety of drivers, pedestrian and bicyclists are of paramount importance.
Vendors are instructed to use the Truck Route Map to plan their routes. In particular, the following restrictions apply:
- TRUCKS OVER 7 TONS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON JUNIPERO SERRA BOULEVARD BETWEEN CAMPUS DRIVE EAST AND PAGE MILL ROAD.
- TRUCKS OVER 7 TONS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON STANFORD AVENUE.
Trucks traveling along these roads should be reported on this website using the Truck Violation Form below.
Include as much information in your submission as possible, (e.g. specific date and time, location, direction, description of vehicle and identifying marks, such as the license or truck number and the company name). Stanford will follow up on your report. If the truck reported is traveling to (or from) Stanford in association with a university project or operations, and found to be in violation of the ban on trucks over 7 tons, per standard contract language, the contractor will be fined. Fines will escalate for repeat offenders.
Buses are exempt from these travel restrictions, although as a courtesy to our neighbors, we do request that charter bus companies use the truck routes to campus.
