How do you transfer a PDF file from a computer to an e-reading device?

Amazon's primary file format is an AZW file, and these file types can be purchased from the Amazon store.  Other file types that don't require conversion are MOBI and PRC (as long as they don't have Digital Rights Management protection embedded in the file).

The steps for transferring a PDF from your computer to your e-reading device are different for each device. Amazon Kindle: Transferring, downloading, and sending files to Kindle  also here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200375630

As long as the device is registered, you transfer the following formats: Microsoft Word (.DOC), Microsoft Word (.DOCX), TXT (.TXT), RTF (.RTF), JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG), GIF (.GIF), PNG (.PNG), BMP (.BMP), PDF (.PDF)
