Congestion management agencies, or CMAs, are county-level organizations responsible for preparing and implementing congestion management programs.
The county CMAs also are responsible for overseeing and delivering transportation sales tax measures that the voters have approved.
Eight of our nine Bay Area counties have approved dedicated transportation sales taxes.
The nine CMAs are:
- Alameda County Transportation Commission
- Contra Costa Transportation Authority
- Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM)
- Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency
- San Francisco County Transportation Authority
- City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (CCAG)
- Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority
- Congestion Management Agency
- Solano Transportation Authority
- Sonoma County Transportation Authority
Eight Bay Area counties are among the 20 counties statewide whose voters have approved dedicated transportation sales tax measures.
We call these “self-help” counties.
They are home to more than 80 percent of all Californians. Your voter-approved measures finance local street and road, highway, transit, freight, bicycle and pedestrian projects.
CMAs administer the One Bay Area Grant Program launched by MTC to link the region’s federal transportation money with California’s greenhouse gas emission reduction requirements.
