"I got involved in Gesher at Stanford primarily to meet other Jewish graduate students and young professionals. After graduating from college I left all of my friends and family in New York and made the big move out to Palo Alto for graduate school at Stanford. Even though I quickly made friends, very few of them were Jewish and I realized I would need to make an effort to meet other Jews in the area. Fortunately, I was introduced to the Gesher community and quickly met a lot of people who shared not only my beliefs and values but were also very smart, passionate and fun. This was all I needed to get involved in Gesher and I hope that I can help others discover the warmth of the Gesher community."

Gesher, the Hebrew word for bridge, is a community for those no longer in a structured
undergraduate environment but not yet settled into family/synagogue life. Events have included:
- First Friday – Gesher Shabbat Dinners
- Third Thirsty Thursday – Gesher Pub Night at a local bar
- Jewish holiday events
- Hiking and other active social events
- Volunteering
- Educational and spiritual events
By teaming up with Stanford's Jewish Law Student Association, Jewish Med Student Association, Jewish Business School Association and other organizations in the Bay Area, Gesher creates opportunities for young adults to host programs such as an Israeli wine-tasting, an epic Latke vs. Hamentashen debate starring Stanford University professors and holiday events, such as the huge community Light-It-Up Chanukah Party and much-acclaimed Purim Ball.
We would love for you to get involved!
