The SLAC community’s new restaurant is officially open! Residential & Dining Enterprises’ Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries welcomes each of you to this new facility. Again, thanks to all of you who joined us in the preview to test the menu. You will hear from us soon regarding your questions. We also look forward to implementing some of the suggestions you made. How is the new SLACafé be different from Harvest Café?

Based on feedback from the customer survey conducted at SLAC, the new SLACafé includes more Grab 'n' Go items, tempting grilled sandwiches, a soup and salad bar and tasty new sides. Now, SLACafé offers wholesome hot comfort foods sold by weight for breakfast and lunch. The menu, the facility, the equipment and the service are all designed with the SLAC community in mind!

How can staff provide input and give feedback?

The new SLACafé website https://rde.stanford.edu/hospitality/slac-cafe-0 offers lots of information. A customer feedback form is being developed. Suggestions, observations and comments are all welcome. For now, contact Ahmed Laylani (aleylani@stanford.edu) the SLACafé General Manager, and he will follow up with you..

Are credit cards accepted?

Absolutely! The SLACafé uses the Revel point of sale system which makes cashless sales the most efficient way to pay for your meals. You may elect to pay in cash, but paying with meal plans, credit cards and even Apple Pay are the fastest ways.

Will there be added benefits for those who eat there more often?

Again, YES! The new Revel point of sale program will provide our customers with many ways to enjoy their meals. In the future, look for self-order kiosks in the café and the R&DEFoodToGo app that will allow you order from anywhere, choose your pickup time and pay for it all on your timeline. Meal plan holders will also be awarded “pop-up” rewards and specials via emails and the website.

In the new SLACafé, will there be a charge for take-out containers?

No. Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries does not charge for take-out containers. In keeping with the university’s commitment to sustainability, R&DE SHA uses completely compostable containers and utensils.

Does the menu include healthy food options?

Yes. Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries includes both vegetarian and vegan items along with lean proteins and healthy, salad bar ingredients. In addition, our chefs use the freshest local ingredients available. While you can certainly enjoy an occasional indulgence, you can be assured there will always be healthy choices at SLACafé.

Will SLAC/Guest House Starbucks remain open or change in any way?

The opening of the SLACafé has not changed Starbucks' offerings or service. Starbucks continues to offer its seasonal favorites along with their large menu of latte’s, cappuccino’s, Americano’s and Frappes! Starbucks continues to serve their famous brewed coffee, pastries and sandwiches.

What coffee service will be available in the new SLACafé?

We proudly brew your favorite Starbucks coffee – both regular and decaf. For that extra special coffee indulgence, feel free to visit the Starbucks store at the Stanford Guest House.
