Communities with higher vaccination rates have an extra line of defense against the coronavirus and the more contagious delta variant.

According to data from USAFacts, around 68% of people in the U.S. have received their first shot, and 59% are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 9. There are only two states where less than 50% of the population has received their first shot.

These are the states with the highest partial vaccination rates:

  1. Massachusetts (81.48%)
  2. Vermont (80.69%)
  3. Pennsylvania (80.25%)
  4. Connecticut (80.22%)
  5. Hawaii (79.60%)
  6. New Hampshire (79.29%)
  7. Rhode Island (79.26%)
  8. Maine (77.92%)
  9. New Jersey (75.92%)
  10. California (75.50%)

Sixteen states and the District of Columbia have partial vaccination rates of 70% or higher, and 40 states have fully vaccinated at least half of their population. If the District of Columbia were a state, it would be in the No. 9 spot for highest partial vaccination rates in the country. The nation’s capital has a partial vaccination rate of 76.45%.

On average, nearly 1,510,524 shots are being administered across the U.S. every day as of Nov. 4, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The rate has increased by 55.8% from the previous week. Vaccinations have been on the rise as more people are signing up for the Pfizer booster shot.

County-level data shows that vaccination rates within states can vary significantly. Daily updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide a look into full and partial vaccination rates at the county level.
