Description
Postdoctoral Position Available
Environment: The Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection is a world-class facility dedicated to cancer early detection research programs. The mission of the Center is to foster research leading to the development of blood tests and molecular imaging approaches to detect and localize early cancer. The Pitteri Laboratory is focused on the discovery and validation of proteins and other types of molecules in the blood that can be used as indicators of risk, diagnosis, progression, and recurrence of cancer.
Job Description: A postdoctoral position at the Canary Center at Stanford (Department of Radiology, Stanford University School of Medicine), is available for a qualified candidate. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to multitask and perform interdisciplinary research projects using clinical samples and model systems involving molecular diagnostics, proteomics, glycoproteomics, other “omics” approaches, and cancer biology. The successful applicant will play important roles all stages of investigation including: experimental design, protein chemistry and biochemistry techniques, analytical measurements, and data analysis/interpretation. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with others with diverse areas of expertise.
Requirements: Candidates must have a recent (or soon-to-be conferred) Ph.D. degree or current postdoctoral position in the biological or physical sciences and have two or more publications in peer‐ reviewed journals. Experience at least one of the following areas is required: analytical chemistry, protein chemistry, cancer, mass spectrometry, biochemistry, glycobiology, bioinformatics, and/or proteomics. Examples of highly desired skills include: liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry. Experience with protein separation by HPLC, LC-MS, and/or mining of large data sets would also be beneficial, as would cancer biology knowledge.
Salary will be based on University guidelines for postdoctoral fellows, and will be commensurate with experience. Stanford University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Interested applicants please submit CV, brief statement of interest, contact information, and three references to pitterilab@stanford.edu.
