The Energy, Natural Resources, and the Environment Program (ENREP) conducts research on the economic and environmental effects of energy production and use. ENREP collaborates with Stanford’s Energy Efficiency Center at the Precourt Institute for Energy to investigate how electricity and other energy markets can minimize waste, reduce environmental damage, and move toward sustainability.
Programs
SIEPR's General Research Program supports research across the policy spectrum that is not part of our other programs and centers. Program research, funded largely with unrestricted money, is broad in scope and often long-term in nature. It allows us to pursue scholarship that doesn’t easily fit into our other research units.
The Health Economics Program uses the tools of economic analysis to explore how to make the U.S. and international health care systems more efficient and better able to provide high-quality medicine to all. Health Economics works cooperatively with other Stanford programs, including the Center for Health Policy of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.
The Knowledge Networks and Institutions for Innovation Program (KNIIP) studies how society produces, uses and distributes scientific and technological knowledge. KNIIP researchers examine how public and private policies, including contract and intellectual property law, shape the way information is shared.
The Law and Economics Program explores cutting-edge legal issues that stem from the rise of digital technology and the Internet. The program focuses on antitrust and intellectual property policies, often working cooperatively with Stanford Law School’s John M. Olin Program in Law and Economics.
The Program on Market Design promotes research into the structure and operation of different kinds of markets. Researchers look at what makes markets efficient and how policymakers can help them function better.
