Analytical Reports

Annual reports

Each year, IR&DS produces reports that are distributed to University executives, such as Deans, Administrative Deans, and the Provost, for their use in managing their organizations. These reports are an important part of Institutional Research at Stanford and will continue to be refined each year based on suggestions from users and availability of new data.

Currently, these reports are:

  • Statistics Book: 51 tables of 10-year statistics about Stanford
  • Comparative Statistics: Comparative data for Stanford and peer institutions
  • Department Profiles: A comprehensive yearly report on each of Stanford’s academic departments
  • Population Report: A summary of all on-campus populations by school/administrative area, including students, faculty, and staff. Reports are available online for FY1999–FY2016

IPEDS

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS): IR&DS also coordinates many of Stanford’s responses to the Department of Education’s yearly statistical surveys. This data includes faculty, staff, and student counts plus financial aid, graduation rates, degrees granted, and financial statement information. IPEDS has a Peer Analysis System, which is a good source for general comparative data, as all educational institutions are required to submit data to IPEDS, and the data is available via the PAS. Contact IR&DS if you wish to make use of IPEDS data.

NRC Assessment of Research Doctoral Programs

From Fall 2006 to Spring 2007, the University participated in the data gathering phase of the NRC’s Assessment of Research Doctoral Programs. Details on Stanford's participation in this analysis are compiled here.
