Access and privileges

Privileges for university & library affiliates

Even if you don't have a Campus ID Card, you may qualify for courtesy SUL privileges. Choose your affiliation from the menu to the left for access and borrowing policy details. If none applies to you, read about visitor access and borrowing privileges and our fee-based membership program.

Is there wireless Internet access in the libraries?

Members of the Stanford community have access via SUNet ID authentication. Across campus and within the libraries Wireless Access for Stanford Visitors is also available. Wifi does not include access to licensed library online content and databases.

Are public computers available to non-Stanford community members?

A limited number of public computers is available at each branch library; in Green Library a bay of public computers is available near the Information Center.

Can I use copiers and scanners?

Yes, see Print, copy, scan for details.

Will I have access to electronic databases?

Perhaps. All licensed electronic resources are available from computers located in the libraries. However, some are restricted to current Stanford University faculty, staff, students and other authorized Stanford-affiliated users. Contact individual libraries if you have specific questions about an online resource.
