Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the Clerk-Recorder's Office will not be able to provide services to walk-in customers until further notice.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as you may experience delays and longer than usual processing times for services offered by our office due to limited staffing during these unprecedented times.
Please note that under California law, all public employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers (DSWs); therefore, some of our staff have been deployed as DSWs to assist with the County’s COVID-related efforts.
For the safety of our employees, our families and you, our customers, we are working remotely to process your requests as timely as possible.
For your convenience, we have a drop box located inside at the County Government Center at 70 W. Hedding Street by the Information Booth and outside, near the former main entrance to the building.

Birth, Death and Marriage Certified Copies: Birth, death and marriage records can only be requested through the mail, drop box or online through the VitalChek service. A completed sworn statement in addition to a notary acknowledgment is required. Completed requests will be sent through the US mail within 4 to 6 weeks.

Real Estate Recording: There will be no real estate recordings accepted for walk-in customers. Documents sent through the mail and received through our drop box will be reviewed and recorded within 10 business days if it meets all recording requirements. The original will be mailed out within 6 to 8 weeks.

Grantor/Grantee Index: While there are no walk-in customers allowed to use the public research area, the Clerk-Recorder's Office can send out a daily .csv file OR a monthly .csv file that contains all of the recordings for the past 30 days by email. These files will include: date, document number, grantor/grantee, document titles(s), and transfer tax paid. To receive these emails, please submit a request to [email protected] with the subject line of "Request for Recorded Documents Report" in order to be reviewed and added to our email list. For any other research requests, please email [email protected] with the subject line of "Research Request".
