PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

COVID-19 Risk Reduction Order
January 25, 2021 | Effective January 25, 2021, 11:59pm

This Order defines the current COVID-19 restrictions on activities and gatherings in the City of Berkeley. It was updated on January 25, 2021 to align local restrictions with the State of California rules.

The Order replaces most local restrictions with the requirements defined in the California Blueprint for a Safer Economy and California Department of Public Health guidance for face coverings, guidance on gatherings, and reopening in-person instruction framework for K-12 schools.

Isolation & Quarantine
Issued July 15, 2020 | Updated May 4, 2021 | Active

These Orders, issued concurrently, require people who have been diagnosed with or who are likely to have COVID-19 to isolate themselves until at least 1 day has passed since recovery and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. The Orders also require people who are not yet fully vaccinated to quarantine themselves if they have been exposed through close contact with someone who has COVID-19, including household contacts, intimate partners, and caregivers.

The Quarantine Order was updated on May 4, 2021 to reflect new CDC guidance for people who have been vaccinated.
