An article on Monday about the federal Railroad Retirement Board transposed the given names of a former director of retirement claims and a labor lawyer from Minneapolis, both of whom commented on the agency’s handling of disability benefits. The former board official is Robert S. Kaufman and the lawyer is William G. Jungbauer. (Go to Article)

An article on Monday about lobbyists who are married to people joining President-elect Barack Obama’s administration referred incorrectly to clients of the lobbying firm founded by Tom Downey, whose wife, Carol M. Browner, is an adviser to Mr. Obama. The firm says it recently terminated its contracts with Fannie Mae, the government-backed mortgage giant, and with Securing America’s Future Energy, a nonprofit that advocates reducing dependence on foreign oil. The two organizations are not currently represented by Mr. Downey’s firm. (Go to Article)

An article on Monday about a brunch on Staten Island to honor Representative Vito J. Fossella, who is leaving office under a cloud, misstated his wife’s given name in some editions and referred incorrectly in some editions to his work on Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s re-election campaign. Mr. Fossella’s wife is Mary Pat, not Susan; he was co-chairman of the Bloomberg campaign; he did not lead it. (Go to Article)

The Personal Health column on Dec. 2, about detecting and treating esophageal cancer, misstated the size of the gastrointestinal endoscope, the instrument used in the traditional screening test for the disease. It is usually nine millimeters in diameter, about one-third of an inch — not “the diameter of a garden hose.” (Go to Article)
