Malaysia Asks Sweden to Suspend Free Speech

According to AFP, the Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Anifah Aman, has asked the nation of Sweden to suspend free speech after a caricature of Mohammed was printed in three newspapers.

He said his country was concerned that such "despicable acts disregard the sensitivity of the Muslim world in the name of freedom of expression."

"Such irresponsible acts are provocative and offensive in nature and hence it is totally unacceptable," he added.

"Malaysia wishes to request the Swedish government to take measures against such publications to prevent the recurrence of such irresponsible acts in the future."

Swedish government authorities say they haven't received anything official yet. It's unknown how Sweden will respond. However, Malaysian Muslims are planning to demonstrate in front of the Swedish Embassy next Friday.

So the question is: "Will Sweden take measures and make it illegal to piss off the Muslims?" I'd like to think not.
