Carol Castiel, Host |
Prior to becoming Director of Current Affairs Programming, Carol wrote, edited, and produced the former documentary program, Dateline. She also anchored live newscasts for VOA News Now and worked in VOA's Africa Division. Before joining the Voice of America, Carol was a consultant/free-lance journalist specializing in the promotion of trade and investment between the United States and Africa. She was also a contributing editor to the London-based West Africa Magazine and managed scholarship programs for Portuguese-speaking Africa at the Africa-America Institute from 1984 to 1992. Carol has traveled widely in Africa, Europe and South America and is fluent in Portuguese, French, and Spanish. She holds an M.A. degree in International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Carol is especially fascinated and inspired in her professional and personal life by the history and culture of medieval Spain known in Arabic as “Al-Andalus.” |
