This Week's Program: "US-Israel Rift" |
|
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton tried this week to downplay tensions between the United States and Israel. She said there is "a close, unshakable bond" between the countries. The rift got started with the announcement by an Israeli government agency that Jewish settlers will be allowed to build new houses in disputed East Jerusalem. US Vice President Joseph Biden was visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories when the announcement was made, timing that the White House said was an "insult." |
