Located between Berryessa and Mabury roads, adjacent to the San Jose Flea Market in north San Jose, the Berryessa Station is positioned near where Penitencia and Coyote creeks meet. The station will promote the area’s environment with architectural and landscaping features that evoke a notion of water flow, natural habitat, and San Jose’s agricultural past.

Station Construction

Upper Penitencia Creek (UPC) Trail Connector

VTA is partnering with the City of San Jose to construct a segment of the Upper Penitencia Creek Trail in conjunction with VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Project. This grant-funded joint project between the City and VTA will expand the city’s trail network and provide bike and pedestrian access to the Berryessa BART Station when it opens for regional transit users. A new traffic signal and crosswalks will be installed at the intersection of King Road and Salamoni Court to provide a safe crossing of King Road.
 
The Upper Penitencia Creek Trail Connector will be constructed alongside the Berryessa BART Station campus, and will be open to the public in 2017. The trail, part of the City of San Jose and County of Santa Clara’s trail master plans, will connect to the planned Coyote Creek trail. The width of the trail will be composed of 12 feet of paved area and a five-foot gravel jogging path, with a native plant landscaping strip to buffer the recreational space from nearby residences.
