Environmental Documents

Federal and state laws require VTA to formally review and analyze how VTA's BART Silicon Valley Extension may affect the environment. VTA, in coordination with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), prepared an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). VTA also prepared an Environmental Impact Report (EIR), and two subsequent Supplemental EIRs, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

These documents present alternatives for improving transit services in the VTA's BART Silicon Valley Extension corridor and disclose the environmental impacts of those alternatives. They describe the existing environmental setting, project alternatives, and potential impacts from construction and operations. The documents also outline design requirements, best management practices, and mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate the potential impacts of the project.
