Pursue a Stanford University master of science degree on a part-time basis through the Honors Cooperative Program (HCP). As an HCP student, you will be a fully matriculated graduate student of Stanford University.

Application

  • Before you enroll in online courses toward a degree program, you must complete Stanford’s graduate admissions process. This includes having taken the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) within the past 5 years, submitting a Statement of Purpose, and securing letters of recommendation.
  • Application Deadlines - Several departments accept applications only once a year, others have rolling admissions for master's degree applicants. Please familiarize yourself with the appropriate application deadline.
  • Upon admittance to the master’s degree program, you will be notified to file your study plan in Axess, Stanford's web-based system. This is where you will also add, drop, and evaluate classes; update addresses; view your grades; request official transcripts; and review degree requirements status.
  • If you do not have one already, create a mystanfordconnection account so that you can pay your tuition, access your courses, and view your account status.

Admissions Checklist

  • Prerequisites - Each degree program has specific prerequisites and requirements. Visit the degree program details page for the degree you wish to pursue to confirm you meet the program requirements. Search degrees
  • Application - Apply to the academic department through the office of graduate admissions.
  • Transcripts - Arrange for sealed official transcripts (both graduate and undergraduate levels) to be submitted in the medium of English (certified translated transcripts can be accepted) from any prior institution(s) to the office of graduate admissions
  • Visa Documentation (if applicable) - For non-US citizens residing in the US, please submit the following visa information with your application to the office of graduate admissions:
    • Picture page from your passport
    • Visa stamp page from your passport with issue and expiration dates
    • Current visa document, such as "Notice of Action"
  • Employment with a Member Company – To pursue your degree part-time, your employer must be a corporate member of the Stanford Center for Professional Development. Visit Corporate Education to confirm that your employer is a member and for information on becoming a member.

Academic Credit

Academic credit earned for each course that you successfully complete will range between 3 to 5 quarter units of credit, depending upon the course. A master of science degree requires 45 units of credit.
