Self-assessment, combined with industry research and evaluation of your career options, is key to moving into a job or career that is the right fit.
Self-Assessment Tools
Stanford GSB’s Career Management Center uses the following assessment tools most frequently to support our students and alumni. In using these tools, however, our coaches are always aware — as you should be — that they will not provide all the answers about the next steps you should take in your career. Rather, they offer one set of data to consider during the exploration process.
CareerLeader
This online self-assessment tool helps you understand your core business interests, values, and skills and includes rich and deep information about a wide range of business careers.
Stanford GSB alumni can access CareerLeader for a discounted rate ($75 for a 60-day subscription).
Gallup’s Strengths-Finder
Gallup created the science of strengths, and Gallup’s Strengths-Finder assessments have helped millions of people discover what they do best. Start with the Top 5 Strengths assessment.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
This widely used personality test is great for understanding how you relate to others. It can help you understand which work environments and careers are a good fit and which may be more challenging for you.
