Stanford Biosciences students take advantage of a wide variety of housing choices.
Most graduate students live in graduate student neighborhoods on campus, especially in their first year. These subsidized apartments, located on the edge of our campus, allow students to live alone or with up to three roommates. Housing is also available for couples, with or without children. Part of an active student life, Graduate Community Associates organizes weekly events that include dinners, shows, seminars, and community service. These events are a great way to meet other students and experience the Bay Area.
Biosciences students also live off campus, in surrounding areas such as Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, and Redwood City. Some students choose to live in the denser urban centers of San Francisco, San Mateo, and San Jose. Stanford is easily accessible by bike from all surrounding neighborhoods and from Caltrain, which runs the 80-mile stretch from San Francisco, to San Jose, to Gilroy and has a station adjacent to campus.
