Subspecialty residents participate in these activities: Pediatric Infectious Diseases residents participate in all conferences. Specifically, at the weekly Pediatric Infectious Diseases clinical rounds the subspecialty residents present inpatients and outpatients currently followed by the Pediatric service. Patients are then discussed by all conference attendees, which include the Pediatric Infectious Diseases faculty and residents, general pediatric residents, medical students currently on the pediatric Infectious Diseases rotation, clinical and research nurses, Pediatric Infectious Diseases research laboratory managers, Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford Infection Control nurse epidemiologist, and PhD postdoctoral fellows. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases faculty and residents, general pediatric residents, and medical students currently on the Pediatric Infectious Diseases rotation routinely attend the weekly combined Adult/Pediatric Infectious Diseases Grand Rounds. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division is responsible for one of these conferences per month, during which the Pediatric Infectious Diseases resident presents a case, followed by a brief discussion. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases attending leads the subsequent clinical and didactic discussion, and occasionally an outside specialist is invited to present information relevant to the topic. Pediatric Grand Rounds and all other optional conferences are attended by members of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
