Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Fellowship

The educational program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at Stanford University is a three year program intended to prepare trainees for academic careers by providing structured training in basic laboratory and clinical research, experience as a teacher in postgraduate education, and the opportunity to develop additional subspecialty clinical skills.  The program is an integral part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, chaired by Jonathan Berek, MD, MMS, a gynecologic oncologist.  The program director is Lynn Westphal, MD, FACOG.

The program is designed for those seeking eligibility to take the examinations for sub specialty certification of special qualification given by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Candidates must, therefore, have completed an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Individuals who wish to qualify for Board certification must obtain prior approval of their programs from the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In addition to the SREI on-line application at http://www.srei.org, our program requires submission of curriculum vitae, personal statement including a description of career goals, all CREOG scores, medical school transcript, and at least three letters of recommendation from residency and research mentors.  If submitting via email, all documents should be in PDF format – please be sure all documents are clear and legible. Letters of recommendation should come from your mentor directly, or their assistant. Applications are accepted March 1st through the deadline of June 1st. Interviews will be by invitation only, usually in August and September. Selection of fellows from those interviewed will be made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Please see their website: http://www.nrmp.org.

We are unable to accept applications for our REI Fellowship program from anyone with visa status as Fellows are considered OB/GYN generalists with their own clinics.  Also, all fellows must have satisfactorily completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency that is accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in the United States, or the Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (CRCPSC), and have acquired basic knowledge and skills in obstetrics and gynecology.

Thank you for your interest in our program. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tracy Lindsay at (650) 498.7408 or email your questions to the Program Director, Dr. Lynn Westphal, at lynnw@stanford.edu.
